EVENTS, DAYTRIPS, & OVERNIGHTS
Going on an adventure together is a great way to build meaningful connection
Through weekend events international students and volunteers have an opportunity to enjoy the best of what Minnesota has to offer through the varied seasons of the year. We do many outdoor activities. Hikes are very popular in the Summer and Fall as well as visits to the zoo, an apple orchard or the local festivals. During the winter months we like to go sno-tubing, ice fishing, ice skating and skiing. But we will also visit a museum, spend an afternoon at an archery range, have a couple hours of fun playing laser tag or spend an evening playing games. Going to the zoo or having a cookie bake are also favorite activities.
Our HCC events provide a platform for new friendships to form. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to follow up with students they meet on an event. You can invite them to another HCC event, meet together at one of our cultural friendship meals or set up a time to meet and get to know each other more via social media.
Explore Minnesota with international students. We offer safe year around opportunities for students to see and learn about Minnesota. From nature walks, to cultural landmarks, and shopping trips so they're outfitted for every season. Join our students for a great experience!
Will you consider sharing your time and take 2 or more students with you on a day outing?
These are special trips at HCC. Although we see beautiful sites, explore nature, and have fun, these trips are about community. Overnight trips provide what day outings and other activities cannot: a variety of quality time through driving, eating, exploring, living, cooking, and talking together. Overnights provide more time and space for relationships to begin. Consider joining us in a support or leadership role with a medium sized group of international students.
Examples of overnights trips are the following:
