About HCC
Currently, the U of M has the most Chinese students out of any other North American university. Most of these individuals come from the People’s Republic of China and it is the desire of the Hospitality Center to provide a welcoming environment for them as they face the challenges, changes and complexities of their new setting in the United States. It is an important place of friendship, understanding and Christian witness. HCC is designed to share Christ’s love through hospitality. All of our programs and services build meaningful relationships and bridges between the U.S. and China.
HCC's Background
华夏之家的背景
The Hospitality Center for Chinese (HCC) was founded in 1992 by retired missionaries from China. Upon coming to Minnesota, they noticed a strategic opportunity to serve Chinese students and families at the University of Minnesota. HCC started as a small Christian organization that provided practical services like English classes and friendship meals. 16 years later, we still provide these same practical services, but through an expanded program including: furniture ministry, multiple classes/activities, and host homes for new students.
The Hospitality Center for Chinese is located within “China Place” building. “China Place” is co-owned by China Service Ventures. China Service Ventures (CSV) is committed to fostering mutually enriching relationships between Christian communities in North America and communities in China. Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
